Wednesday’s Widgets
Life Online isn’t all about information and blogging. Sometimes, it’s about taking a short break and a distraction away from crap in the Real World. What better way to amuse yourself than with Widgets! Here are a few that I found that were noteworthy:
- If you like listening to music that’s way off the beaten path, try this widget that ties you to a gazillion online radio stations all over the world. Shoutcast Radio was accessible mainly via Winamp and direct-search online (if you knew where to look). Now, you can have this handy gizmo with you wherever you go. Just search for a music genre, or browse and listen to featured radio stations, then click away and let it play in the background! Shoutcast is a delightful treat to anyone looking to be wowed by new tunes and sounds. Source: YourMinis.
- Can’t sleep? Uncertain about your future? Not sure where to eat out today? Have no fear, the Tarot Reading widget is here! This quaint little widget, courtesy of iFate, gives you a “Past, Present, and Future” reading, based on your selection of any three cards. To get your life reading, simply click on three cards in the deck at the bottom, then read what the electronic Fates have in store for you! To return, simply click the left arrow, which resets the reading. The only problem I have with this widget is trying to center the alignment – it’s quite stubborn, and nothing in either Wordpress or the HTML is letting me fix it. - If you’re not in the mood for either music or fortune-telling, but a good brew instead, then the Coors Light Happy Hour Locator Widget is for you! Day or night, this handy gizmo is your instant radar for the nearest restaurant or pub, when Thirsty Thursday or Frosty Friday rolls in! A must-have for Weekend Wine Warriors!
